Crestview Country Club is looking an Assistant Superintendent to join our Turf Maintenance Team. Crestview is the only facility in the state of Kansas to have a 36 hole facility. 

The 1st Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Superintendent in directing and participating in the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course(s) in the Club’s effort to deliver a world-class facility for our members and guests, exceptional service, financial profitability and to meet the standards and expectations of senior management.

  • Assists in managing and maintaining the golf course and practice areas to include but not limited to: the irrigation systems; greens, tees, fairways, landscape; equipment and maintenance facility; restrooms and potable water sources; pump stations; and other properties as specified.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply, at all times, with the Club’s standards, policies and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Club standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the Club.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
  • Conduct facility inspections and supervisor minor construction projects and course changes/additions.
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of construction and maintenance equipment
  • Supervise pesticide applications and /or operate and calibrate pesticide application equipment; supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Monitor nightly irrigation applications, insect and weed populations and diseases to diagnose problems and to present solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets for maintenance and capital improvement to the golf course(s).
  • Recruit, interview and train employees.
  • Assist in monitoring and developing employee performance to include, but not limited to: providing supervision; preparing and modifying work schedules; conducting counseling and evaluations; providing professional development; monitor adherence to company policies and procedures; and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Assist in ensuring the golf course is operated in accordance with all industry and safety regulations.
  • Keep and maintain accurate and complete records including, but not limited to, payroll; inventory; weather data; maintenance procedures; fertilizer and pesticide applications; local, state and federal training documentation; safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations; and the repair of maintenance equipment.
  • Prepare maintenance reports as requested.
  • Serve in the Superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.
  • Other duties may be assigned as business demands.
  • Two year degree in turf management or related area; and 3 or more years related golf course maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of chemicals used for golf course maintenance.
  • Demonstrated results oriented and capable of working with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance of golf course turf; cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditions; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
  • Requires knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations).
  • Familiarity with all aspects of golf maintenance operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
