The City of Wichita is hiring a Roaming Golf Course Maintenance Mechanic for it’s four municipal golf courses. The mechanic will work closely with the four Superintendents to development and implement a comprehensive repair and maintenance program for a varied fleet of equipment including reel and rotary mowers, heavy, medium and light duty utility vehicles, bunker rakes, spraying, aerification and topdressing equipment, and hand-held power equipment. This position will also be responsible for asset and inventory management. This position is NOT responsible for clubhouse rental golf cart fleet.
About the COW Golf Division: In 2023 the division produced over 180,00 rounds and is on pace to surpass that this year. Over the last three years the division has been on an aggressive equipment replacement program including greens, tee, collar, fairway and rough mowers, and utility vehicles. Over the last two years all four courses have purchased new sprayers. In 2023 the system purchased new Foley automatic reel and bed knife grinders. All four maintenance shops have equipment lifts.
Over the last two years all four courses have had irrigation pumping system upgrades or replacements. Beginning this fall and continuing for four years all four courses will have new irrigation systems.
