Council Grove Country Club
Council Grove Country Club, “the Santa Fe Trail Golf Course”, a semi-private, 9-hole golf course with approximately 90 members is searching for its next Golf Course Superintendent. The Historic town of Council Grove is in Northeast Kansas at the Junction of Highway 177 and Highway 56 in Morris County. The course has existed since 1924. Currently, the clubhouse is not open or staffed, it is available for rental. The course allows member-owned carts and has storage space available. There are also rental carts available.
The golf course is a nine-hole par 36 that covers 2,875 yards. The total acreage is 60 acres with moderate to severe elevation changes. The course is buffalograss fairways and rough, with bent grass greens and small cool season tee boxes. Only golf greens and tees are irrigated. The water is purchased from the city and is fed directly into the irrigation system. The course boasts tee to green cart paths with cross over paths.
Primary Duties
Daily maintenance of all grounds, buildings, course maintenance equipment, rental carts, and clubhouse.
Maintain Irrigation system and all components.
Schedule, apply and record all chemical and fertilizer applications.
Work without supervision and effectively solve problems.
Hire and supervise any part-time staff.
Attends monthly board meetings to provide course updates.
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Degree or certificate in turf management a plus.
Experience Requirements
General maintenance experience with an emphasis on turf. Mechanical skills a plus.
Salary and Benefits
The Superintendent role is a salaried position, the applicant must be willing to relocate to the immediate area. Salary is $40,000 to $50,000/year DOE. Full golfing membership and cart rental.
