The Kansas Golf Course Superintendents Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving its members by providing them with educational, professional development, and networking opportunities, advancing their profession and enhancing the enjoyment, growth, and vitality of the game of golf.
The KGCSA Board of Directors held a Strategic Planning Session on April 2, 2013 at GCSAA Headquarters in Lawrence. The meeting was facilitated by Steve Randall and Leann Cooper, GCSAA.The purpose of this meeting was to redefine the mission, vision, and goals of the association.A SCOR analysis was conducted to identify the association’s Strengths, Challenges, Opportunities, and Risks.Through the SCOR analysis, member outreach and working within the industry to promote the game of golf were deemed important.A new, updated mission statement was adopted:
“The Kansas Golf Course Superintendents Association is established to serve members, advance the profession and promote the enjoyment of golf through responsible golf course management practices.”
The Board has determined the vision of the association to be one of an engaged membership of professionals, promoting environmental stewardship, and providing value in programs and services offered to our members. The Board also set goals for the immediate future. One of those goals being, the creation of a task force to determine the feasibility of conducting a Kansas Golf Day.This will involve allied golf organizations joining together as one to promote the industry. The Board is also directing its attention to the newsletter and how to better the communications of the association. This will include the development of a poster highlighting the professional image of KGCSA to be displayed in member golf facilities that can be personalized to the superintendent at your current course.
In closing, the Board of Directors is committed to working towards obtaining these goals to enhance the membership and the professionalism of the superintendent. If you have any questions or would like to assist the Directors in meeting these goals, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or email.
